Internal Investigations:
Overseeing a Risky Process and Finding the Right Balance
Since coming of age with the passage of Sarbanes Oxley,
internal investigations have produced mixed results, both for the corporations undertaking
them and the directors charged with overseeing them. Often, they have produced balanced
results that improved corporations and their governance. At times, however, they have produced
unintended consequences that damaged corporations and their businesses. The panelists in
this program will discuss their experiences, and how from their perspectives directors can
best find the right balance when overseeing this risky process.
